Let me start out by saying that we all get older and aging is normal, if you are 50 + these tips would be for you. But first of all, accept that your skin is aging, it is perfectly normal, don´t try to look younger, don´t feel like you have to get all kinds of expensive treatments to keep your youth, because aging is fine, you are as beautiful as you used to be, you are just in a different time of your life than you were 20-30 years ago and that is fine. However there are things you can do to be good to your skin, things that can help you age with grace, which is not expensive treatments or botox or anything like that, things that are completely fine to start doing and it will leave your skin feeling better and look more glowing and refreshed, it would be worth it for you.

1.     Use a gentle face wash. Even when you are 50 + you can get acne and it can feel tempting to use a harsh face wash, but don´t a mild face wash that uses essential fatty acids to deliver major hydration and green tea to fight against damage from free radicals, compounds that attack cells.

2.     Start using retinoids. As we all know over time your skin can begin losing collagen, collagen is the protein responsible for keeping your skin looking smooth and lifted. This loss can result in a creased look. The best way to somewhat prevent this from happening is using a retinoid since this promotes cell turnover. This is not an overnight miracle treatment, but if you keep using it for a long time, I will say you can maybe start seeing results after 1-2 months, so have patience.

3.     SPF. It is no secret by now that SPF is one the best anti-aging things you will ever get, no matter how old you are you need to use an SPF and you need to reapply it throughout the entire day. If your skin is aging this is the best way to prevent age spots and discoloration. But keep in mind that not all sunscreens are alike, it is important to find one that fits your skin type. And when your skin is aging it tends to be on the drier side, so use a sunscreen that is moisturizing and avoid alcohol-containing sprays and gels that can dry out your skin. But I believe that goes for most ages, not only 50+

4.     Use a richer face cream. As you age the oil glands will become less active. The simple act of just switching your normal face cream with a richer one will help trap the water against the skin, pumping up those deep crevices. Also, don´t forget your neck! No matter how old you are remember the neck.

5.     Watch what you eat, again this is one that goes for all ages, watch what you eat, what happens on the outside of your body reflects what happens on the inside of the body. Avoid things that can dehydrate, like alcohol, food high in sugar, and white carbohydrates. Having a nutritious diet will truly help your skin looking better and also your body feeling better.

6.     Take your supplements. Let´s be honest with ourselves here, it is not always we eat as balanced as we should, it is not always eaten as much seafood as we should, so try taking some supplements, a healthy inside is also the key to a healthy outside.

7.     Exfoliate weekly. Again, one that actually goes for all ages, not only aging skin. Our skin sheds dead skin cells regularly, creating a new layer every 28th day, this process however does to slow as you age, but the retinoids I mentioned earlier will help with that. Anyhow to remove the buildup of dead skin cells you need to exfoliate, I recommend only doing 1 time a week, with a chemical exfoliator and not a physical one, because the physical one is a lot harsher on the skin.
