We have all struggled to keep a proper skincare routine at some point in our life, and that is okay, but as I always say consistency is the key, you will not get the result you want unless you keep using the products that are supposed to give you that result, I guess you can compare it to a diet, you have decided you want to get in shape, but you only workout 1 time and eat healthy for 1 day and then you wonder why don´t I see any results? Well maybe because you didn´t do what you were supposed to do to see the results you wanted. Skincare is the same, if you don´t keep doing it, you will not see any results. I know waiting and waiting to see a result is hard, especially because you want to see a difference right away but believe me keeping up with your routine and in the end getting that result will be worth the wait. Anyway, let me give you a few tips on what you can do to help your skin a bit.
1. Always remove your makeup before bed. I know I know, it has been a long day or a long night out and you just want to head to bed, but do yourself a favor and wash off that makeup, if you don´t it will just sit there and clog your pores and you will get a one-way ticket to breakout land.
2. Keep your hands away from your face. Do you want to get rid of your acne? Well if the answer is yes keeping your hands away from your face, there are all kinds of bacteria on your hands and you don´t want those on your face because they will create acne.
3. Apply something cold on a bad pimple. Speaking of cooler temperatures, an ice cube can be your best friend if you're dealing with an angry, red blemish. Icing down a pimple can reduce swelling, shorten its lifespan, get rid of redness, and make it less painful. Just make sure your skin is clean and you wrap the ice cube in a clean, thin washcloth before applying.
4. Please for the love of everything good in this world don´t DIY. Listen to me, do not DIY any skincare, just don´t it is not worth it and it might end up making your skin even worse, I swear put that sugar away, put that lemon down, and do not touch that coconut oil, your skin will thank you believe me. Just trust the products which are formulated by professionals, they know what they are doing. And if you have a severe skin issue, I highly recommend seeing a dermatologist, he/she can help you.
Don´t use the same towel for face, hair, and body. When you're towel-drying your hair post-shower, make sure you've got a second towel on hand for your body and face. Even though your hair is clean, oils from your scalp and any shampoo and conditioner residue on your strands can transfer to a towel. If you then use that towel to dry your face, you're asking for a breakout.
